Whether you are building a large walk-in kitchenette in addition to your kitchen or want to make efficient use of existing storage space, we have a design solution for you. Unless you are converting an existing space into a pantry, but if you’re starting from scratch, there are a number of things to keep in mind to seamlessly integrate the addition into your kitchen:
-The proportions of the rest of the kitchen. Do your cabinets go to the ceiling or is their distance from the top to the ceiling? It might look a little different if your new pantry isn’t right for you.
Think about the style of the rest of the kitchen: will you be able to easily match the cabinets, colors, finishes, and accessories, or will you have to get creative with something that contrasts intentionally?
– When measuring the dimensions to plan the size, also take into account the protrusion of the material.
– When choosing a door, take into account the clearance you have. Maybe you make better use of your space with a sliding door for a farmhouse than with a swing door or vice versa. And optimize storage behind the door.
-When you build from scratch you have a lot more control and with that control comes huge responsibility! Really take the time to plan well and make room for everything. If you have enough space, consider adding a small island or workspace. If the outlets allow, you can use the space to hide small appliances like microwaves and toasters, blenders, and coffee makers.
Pantry Designs Ideas
Cabinets with folding or sliding doors can be converted into a pantry with additional shelves. Hallway cabinets in the immediate vicinity of the kitchen can easily be converted into a pantry. All you need is a custom shelf or a prefabricated flat shelf. Here are some things to consider when converting an existing closet into a pantry
Think flat and vertical: build-up to the ceiling and have a stepladder handy, but keep the shelves flat.
Make sure you have adequate lighting: Often our cabinets are cool, dark places and we don’t really need to see much. However, if you are converting to a pantry, make sure there is at least one ceiling light, and if the room is larger, consider adding work lighting as well.
